We often hear “it takes a village”…and to grant Hailey’s wish, the village included a group of engineers. Twelve-year-old Hailey loves arts & crafts, listening to music, and the allure of butterflies. This is fitting for a young girl who is often referred to as a Butterfly Child based on her medical condition. Hailey was born with a connective tissue disorder, where one’s skin resembles the delicate and fragile nature of a butterfly’s wings. Her condition also limits her exposure to sunlight and spending time outside, away from the protection and safety of her home.
When Hailey was asked to describe her best day ever, she imagined having an outside sanctuary that was all her own. One that would provide a peaceful and creative space for art projects and listening to music, while also keeping her safe and comfortable due to her fragile condition.
Hailey’s wish was adopted by local company, SC Engineers, who built her a custom-designed tree house with all her favorite things in mind. Complete with butterfly décor, Hailey’s tree house boasts gentle edges and soft cushions throughout. She now has her own space to relax and do her favorite things, while safely enjoying her time outdoors.
