While Zachary, age 11, was undergoing chemotherapy this spring for his life-threatening medical condition, he looked forward to seeing exotic animals and the wild coast of Australia. A place he had studied in geography class. And now a place where his dream came true.
“Australia has always fascinated me,” Zachary said. “Especially the animals: they’re cool! They’re unlike any other animals in the world,” he added. And holding a koala? “Awesome!” From feeding kangaroos to seeing wild parrots at the national park, Zachary and his family enjoyed their stay in Caloundra, Queensland, home of the world-famous Australia Zoo.
“I want to say thank you very much for sending me there,” says Zachary. “It was an amazing opportunity. I loved it!!!”
