Dominic's wish experience was a welcome break from the everyday reality of his syndrome, and a special moment filled with laughter and his favorite people.
"Dominic is dynamic!" was what the wish granters thought when they met Dominic and his family for the first time. His mother told them that he has always enjoyed attention, and even flourishes in it. As they worked together on a Disney character puzzle, Dominic excitedly expressed his passion for Disney World. “I love Mickey Mouse, and I love fast rides!” And last spring, Dominic’s wish was granted, and he and his family were whisked off to a wonderful time at the happiest place on Earth.
Dominic makes a great impression, and has the courage to maintain such a vivacious personality even while dealing with the symptoms of Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome. These symptoms have made him different, both in behavior and appearance, from his peers, but they haven’t changed the strength of his character. And on top of that, Dominic has a special someone that has supported him since they were both little.
His cousin, Naisey, has grown up with Dominic, and has been his best friend and strongest pillar throughout that time. “When kids say mean things, she is always there to tell them to be quiet, and to comfort Dominic,” says his mother. So Dominic was immediately sure to mention that he’d love her to come along, and thanks to your generosity, Dominic, Naisey, and other family members enjoyed a wonderful trip to Florida. They loved meeting various characters at the theme parks, including Disney princesses and Dominic’s beloved Mickey.
And Dominic had a blast as he rode a number of fast and fun rides, laughing, with his favorite people by his side. His wish experience was a welcome break from the everyday reality of his syndrome, and a special moment that he knows he will always remember fondly. He and his family are ever grateful to Make-A-Wish and its thoughtful donors.
