Nevaeh goes to Hawaii

“It is clear that no matter what the doctors say is wrong with it, she has a heart full of love. ”

It is clear that no matter what the doctors say is wrong with it, she has a heart full of love.

When meeting Nevaeh, it is quickly apparent that no matter what the doctors say is wrong with it, she has a heart full of love, and cares for her family very much. She likes the simple things an eleven year old would: Oreos, chocolate cake, and, of course, Justin Bieber. But it is clear that the special relationships she has with her family are what she holds closest and dearest to her heart.

When deciding on a wish, Nevaeh was as certain about wanting to go to Hawaii as she was adamant that she wanted her brother, who lives and works in Iowa, and her puppy, Rockstar, to go with her. Her fun-loving and sunny personality fit in perfectly with her wish choice, and so she and her family experienced an exciting, yet serene, vacation among the palm trees and gorgeous beaches this past June.

Nevaeh has been diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect that has changed Nevaeh’s day to day routines significantly. Though tiresome, Nevaeh has not let the treatments or hospital visits affect her sunshiny mannerisms, and fights to stay positive, leaning on her family for support. For all of them, their Hawaiian getaway will be a fun time to enjoy each other’s company away from the hardships of her condition. Nevaeh came home from her adventure beaming. She talked about being greeted at the airport with a lei, taking a submarine adventure, and watching the dolphins dance amidst the beautiful views and sparkling waters of Oahu. Nevaeh is so grateful for the experience and what it did to help her maintain her contagious, happy attitude towards life.
