Dalton has always been inspired by the bravery of the Marines, especially while fighting his own battle.
13-year old Dalton, whose uncle and grandfather were both in the military, admires the Marines for the dedicated service they provide for our country. This inspired Dalton’s wish: to be a Marine for a Day. At his visit to the base at Camp Pendleton, he learned martial arts self defense techniques, shot an M4 rifle, and even rode in an amphibious assault vehicle! Dalton was also able to complete the obstacle course, and it was a joy for him to experience the great teamwork of the Marines as they helped him through it.
Dalton has been faced with the struggle of leukemia treatments for much of his childhood. He strives to fight through this with the bravery and commitment that he has learned from his uncle and grandfather. With Dalton’s Leukemia entering remission, this experience gave him a huge confidence boost. The chance to be brave among fellow soldiers was a welcome change from the relatively independent journey of his own battle, and is an experience he will cherish, always.
